Match 5 Ireland vs Israel

 Ireland 5

 Israel 6

A strong final quarter comeback wasn't  enough for Ireland as they lost by a solitary goal to European opponents Israel.

It was Israel  who opened the scoring just after a minute in this tie. Ireland took control for the rest of the opening period but the Israeli goalkeeper pulled off a number of great saves. After the first time out with five minutes left Ireland kept possession for a number of minutes. As the first break grew closer Patrick Corbett expertly  levelled  the tie.

Brian Smyth won the face off at the start of the second period and eventually the ball found its way to Palmodesso whose effort flew off the post. For the rest of the second quarter both sides battled it out but unfortunately for the attack men both goalies were in great form leaving the score 1-1 at half time

It was all Israel  at the beginning of the third quarter and this resulted in them scoring four goals inside the opening six minutes. With the game looking like it was going to be Israel's Conor Foley stepped up with five minutes left in the quarter to narrow the gap. Leaving three besides at the end of the period.

The opening plays of the final period were tough and tense as both sides knew the next game was going to be crucial. Eventually the Israelis took a four goal lead with eight minutes left. This goal resulted in what was a nearly miraculous recovery from the Irish boys. It was that man Foley who started the comeback with seven to go. Ireland began to put intense pressure on their opponents back like which resulted in Israel getting two men sent to the penalty box. Ireland took complete advantage with Corbett doubling his tally before Foley narrowed the gap to the minimum. Unfortunately this wasn't enough as Israel going on to win by the narrowest of margins.
