Gaynor Shield Final

Wexford 3

Roscommon District 1

Eoin Horkan

UL

A strong second half performance was the difference as Wexford ran out two goal winners.

It was the westerners who took early control of this tie with Eva Daly firing home after three minutes.

Roscommon kept on the pressure on the Wexford goal as the tie went on but goalie Eilis Moran kept her side in the tie .

As the half went on started to wrestle back control with Niamh White causing damage down her wing. They were still a goal behind at the break

Whatever was said to Wexford at the interval during the break had an immediate impact.

It was Ruby Murdiff who burst through from the middle of the park to level the tie.

The southeast side started to control the tie, gaining a foothold in the middle . As the half drew on Kate Hendy was looking dangerous. This finally resulted in Hendy giving her side the lead with twenty minutes to go.

As the game was drawing to a close Hendy doubled her tally for the day with five minutes left ensuring victory for her side .

Kate Hendy was rightly awarded player of the match.
