Gaynor Cup Day 2 Review Morning
Tuesday morning saw the second round of games in UL take place
Anyone in attendance at the UL venue witnessed some fantastic games.
Group 1
The opening game.in this group saw the Midlands side overcome a valiant effort but Cavan /Monaghan.
The 4 goals came from E Mooney , L Concannon,N Treanor and C Brett ensuring victory for her side.
The second game in this group saw the spoils shared between Kilkenny and Donegal The Leinster side toom the lead through R Duff but in the final play of the first half Donegal levelled it with a penalty from M McCarron.
Group 2
Thos groups produced some epic battles on Tuesday morning as ten goals were shared in the second round of fixtures.
It was Galway who got the better of the fist five goal thriller against North Tipperary. Two early goals from M Kirwan and M O'Shea saw NT take control. A second half comeback with two goals from H O'Leary im between an A Conway effort competed the comeback for the Connacht side.
Up next it was the West Limerock side who held out to overcome a battling Inishowen side.
The home team took a commanding three goal lead as E Blake (2) and Emma O'Connor netted . Not to be outdone the Ulster side thundered back into the tie with goals from O Ward and M Doherty. Time ran out in the end to complete the comeback.
Group 3
The Limerick District team.played mayo at the same time as there fellow Limerick counterparts.
It was district whose made home advantage tell winning by the odd goal in 7
Eva Loftus netted a hat trick for the home.side before L Hannon added a fourth.
The mayo goals came from G Carroll (2) and Emily Coleman.
The second game in this group was a south east derby between Carlow and Wexford.
It was Carlow and C Milton who carried on there great form as she netted twice in between a K Tomkins effort to grab victory for her side.
Group 4
There was a Midwest derby in this group between local rivals Limerick and Clare . Nothing could separate these sides at the final whistle. Clare took the lead just on the stroke of half time A Adelu . Not to be outdone the home side leveled through F Ronan.
The second game saw NECSL win by 2 goals against Waterford. O Duruanyawu opened the scoring before A Tallon Bennett doubled her side's lead.
Group 5
There were goals galore in this group as Kildare and Kerry shared 4 with the Leinster side coming out on top. The winning sides goals came from S Poole, E Killian and C Sweeney before G O Sullivan fired in a consiilation effort.
Sligo Leitrim had a comfortable five goal victory over Connacht rivals Roscommon.
Goals from E Gilmartin Late in the opening half before three in the second two coming from A Gray Hannigan in between an A O'Donohue effort.
Group 6
A three goal victory for South Tipperary was the result of the game against Louth . From the outset ST were in control
With M Quinn looking dangerous upfront bagging two goals after a C Fitzgerald effort gave them the lead.
Group 7
Cork overcame Longford in this second round tie by two goals one either side of the half. The first from B Manley while M Deasy made sure of victory for the Munster side.
