THREE Limerick sides were in action once again on the penultimate day of the Gaynor Cup with both the Limerick District League side and the Limerick Desmond side seeing their ties settled in penalty shoot-outs.
Gaynor Bowl Place Match 1
Limerick District 2 Kildare 2 (District win5-4 on pens)
A strong second half performance and some great penalties was enough to see Limerick District get Thursday morning off to a good start on day four of the Gaynor Cup at UL.
It was Kildare who controlled the opening half and seven minutes in had taken the lead through Megan Hurley Mullaly. The visitors controlled the rest of the half but couldn't double their lead.
The second half was dominated by Limerick District and they drew level ten minutes in as Madison McGuane, of Pike Rovers, volleyed in after a corner from Leah Hannon.
Just before the water break the home side took a well deserved lead as Hannon's corner was met by Grace Geary, of Shelbourne AFC, who hammered home.
District looked like they had done enough to win the tie until Erin Killian sent the play-off to penalties

Kildare's scorers in the shoot-out were Clodagh Sweeney, Clodagh Butler, Sophie Poole and Erin Killian.

Limerick Desmond 0 Kerry League 0 (Kerry League win 4-2 on pens)
This game between local rivals was also decided on penalties with Kerry winning out.
The first quarter of this game saw Limerick Desmond on top with Eleanor Blake, of Ballingarry AFC impressing on the wing.
After the first break it was the home side that kept pushing forward but despite the best efforts of Blake and her teammates, Desmond weren't able to find a way past a resolute Kerry defence.
The second half burst into action when a Kerry free kick was goalbound but Sarah O'Carroll did superbly to claw it away from the goal.
Moments later Blake broke away down the wing but her effort flew narrowly wide of the post. The final two chances of the game were created by the west Limerick side.
First off Blake dragged an effort wide before Kianna Browne's effort was kept out in the last play of the game.

Limerick County 2, Roscommon District 4
The final tie on the main pitch at UL in Thursday's Gaynor Cup action saw the Connacht side come out on top in a six-goal classic.
After dominating the early phases, Limerick County carved out the first chance through Leah Ryan her shot flew wide. Against the run of play the opposition broke the deadlock when Erika Diskin scrambled home a goal.
Both sides created half chances as the half drew to a close. On the stroke of the whistle, Roscommon's lead was doubled through Eva Daly.
With five minutes added on before the break Roscommon pushed forward and extended their lead through Ali O'Toole to move 3-0 to the good.
The second half saw the home side play with the breeze and create half chances but couldn't narrow the gap initially. Against the run of play Erika Daly doubled her tally for the game to see Roscommon into a 4-0 lead.
The final ten minutes saw Limerick County on top as they managed two consolation goals. The first came courtesy of a magnificent free-kick from Jennifer Hogan before the talented Holycross player added a second direct from a corner in the final action of the game for 4-2.
