Following a well-deserved 3-0 victory over Inishowen today at the University of Limerick, Mayo are  the 2023 Gaynor Cup Trophy champion.

The right winger for the north Donegal team was highly dangerous in the opening minutes, but Lola Tiernan at left back marked her expertly.

In  the eighth minute of the half Mayo had their first opportunity when Sophie O Donnell's dangerous cross put the goalkeeper in serious danger, but she managed to keep the ball out.

Within two minutes Mayos Ciara Kearney pounced on a defensive error to fire her side ahead. 

Just before the water break mayo doubled their lead when Emily Coleman converted a penalty.

The rest of the half was a scrappy affair as both sides couldn't control the ball due to the strong cross wind 

In the second half Inishowen pushed forward and created a number of half chances but couldn't convert as Mayo stood strong led by Sarah Gallagher in goal.

With the game heading towards its end Mayo started to empty the bench  and this proved a master stroke as Rachel Gallagher found the net in the final play of the game.

Ciara Kearney was deservedly awarded player of the match.

Mayo had a tough group with 2 of the other teams winning the other finals m 

Who knows what could have been if every  player was available for the Connacht side
