Moyne Villa win end to end cup tie
It was a bad day for Kiltimagh Knock United as they got knocked out of the Connacht Cup to Galway side Moyne Villa in a muddy pitch in Knock. A small crowd gathered in Knock to see a real end to end Cup tie.
The game started off slowly with both goalkeepers playing like sweepers clearing any ball that went behind the defence. The game sparked into life after 15 minutes when K+K midfielder Colin Gill won the ball on the halfway way line and went on a mazy dribble beating four Moyne Villa players before winning a free kick which he put over the bar from 20 yards. K+k united then won a corner five minutes later. The corner was swung in by winger Christy Conlon and attacking midfielder Robbie Gill had is sliding first time volley cleared off the line by Villa full back Rory Gibbons. Moyne Villa attacker Keelan Jacques had a free kick from just outside the box brilliantly tipped onto the Bar by K+K goalkeeper Adam Byrne and the ball went out of play after that.
In the 35 minute Villa went ahead went a goal scored by Owen Hennely from 5 yards after a shot from midfielder Eoin Mullin came back of the cross bar from 20 yards.  Two minutes later midfield maestro Colin Gill played a ball over the top of the Villa defence to striker Callum Turtill who lofted the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper two villa defenders were covering back but the full back Matthias O Flaherty managed to put the ball in his own net. The first half petered out then.
The second half started much like the first until ten minutes in when Villa keeper Doherty made a brilliant double save first denying Robbie Gill from and then from Colin Gill. K+K won a corner soon after with Robbie Gill heading wide from close range.  Villa midfielder Eoin Mullin then put a shot from outside the box soon after. In the 68th minute Villa went on a counter attack and midfielder Owen Hennely ran from the halfway line with the ball beating 3 K+K players on his way to finding the net after burying it past K+K keeper Adam Byrne at his near post. K+k then went pouring forward with striker Callum Turtill heading wide from a free kick. K+K then brought on Donavan Cosgrove for winger Sean Ivers.  Cosgrove then had two great chances to level the match. The first on was a through ball from Robbie Gill which he fired past the post. The second one was a through ball from midfield which again he failed to convert. He then go behind the Villa back for a third time and this time gave the ball to Callum Turtill who put the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside. Colin Gill had a final chance to level the game with a free kick from over 30 yards but it was well saved by Doherty in the Villa goal. That was the game K+K had lost the game but not for the want of trying.
