The old saying of goals win games was certainly not in display in Arklow on Sunday morning in the intermediate Championship.
Ballinacor started off the game with a tremendous pace with wing back Danny Byrne getting two fine early scores from play .Corner forward Ger Byrne then got a point from a free. In Reply Carnew midfielder Eoin o Donoghue scoring a fine long range free from the ground .Baliinacor scored another free this time from centre forward Conor Parsons. Carnew scored a free from corner forward Conal Mccrae. Ballinacor midfield started to come out on top and just to prove my point midfielder Paddy Byrne scored a point from play. This was before the ballinacor inside line started to cause havoc with corner forward Byrne and full forward James Murphy scoring points from play. Carnew full forward Eoin Coleman started to cause havoc inside this resulted in him scoring two points from play. Just before the break though ballinacor full back Christopher Kennedy scored a monster score from play before the aforementioned Ger Byrne got another point from play. Leaving the score 9-4 at half time.
Ballinacor started the 2nd half in much the same fashion as the first. With their midfield winning a lot of ball which gave the platform for their forwards to cause damage. Midfielder Byrne got another score from play before the dangerous forward of Murphy and Byrne got scores from play while Parsons put over another dead ball over the black spot. Murphy and parsons got two more scores from play one each before dangerous Carnew forward Coleman put over a score in a last ditch attempt to salvage something. To cancel out that carnew point Parsons put over another dead ball before Kennedy scored another point after some fine interplay. Ronan Phelan got one lastr point for ballinacor before a late consolation score for Carnew came from substitute John Kavanagh.
