Arklow CBS vs Temple Carrig U15 Schools Soccer Final

Arklow CBS 2

Templecarrig 1

This is no April fool’s joke . Arklow CBS’s  u15 soccer team managed to get the better of there Greystones’s challengers in the Wicklow- Wexford league final played in Gorey Rangers .

Arklow  CBS started the game much better than their opposition . They even managed to carve out an early chance in the fifth minute through Ryan Redmond who drove down  the wing, but his effort was well saved in the goal by Marco Nomesa Roe .

Moments later the CBS took a well deserved lead as Kyal Byrne managed to guide the ball to Tiernan Gahan whose low drive from the edge of the box found the net to give his side a well deserved lead in the sixth minute . CBS kept the pressure on for the next couple of phases of play but couldn’t make the pressure pay . In the thirteenth   minute Templecarrig won a free kick  out wide  . The cross landed at the feet at Dylan Bourke who controlled his shot expertly to level the tie against the run of play.

With the game now hanging in the balance Arklow  started to gain momentum once again with the aforementioned Gahan controlling the play in the middle .  The same man drove down the wing as the game headed towards the break . After some great work Ciaran Redmond’s  effort flew narrowly wide . With almost the last kick of the half Ryan Redmond attempted a long range effort as the crowd and keeper watched on the ball flew over the angle of post and bar.

After the break it was almost a role reversal with Templecarrig making the early running .  With striker Callum Britton in the centre of it .  Britton one on one  effort flew over the bar ten minutes into the half before his free kick moments later went narrowly wide .  Ryan Redmond broke through the defence again just  like the 1st half but this time it was the defender Corey O’ Brien last ditch block which  saved a certain goal.

With the game in its final play’s the ball landed at the feet of Redmond again .His persistence finally paid off as he scored a volley/half volley worthy of winning any final at any level from the corner of the box .

Templecarrig piled forward in the last play, but Ryan Gleeson in the CBS goal smothered a last effort to keep his side ahead.
