Blessington ripped up the form book on Sunday when they hit 5 goals before midday when beating AGB in the league.

After travelling an hour down the road for this early Sunday morning game Blessington found it hard to trouble the scoreboard early on . AGB’s Stephen Hurley opened the scoring with a long range effort with the outside of his boot. Stephen Carroll at wing forward for the visitors responded with a minor score as he cut in from the wing to split the uprights . The home side playing against the wind fired over two more score with Sean Crowley firing over a forty five  . Cormac O’ Shea then drove over a second effort to extend  his sides lead . As AGB looked like they were going to kick on and extend the lead Blessington kicked into gear notching 1-4 without a response heading into the break . Anthony McLoughlin free narrowed the gap to the minimum . Corner forward  Jordan Nolan then manged to win the ball inside the danger zone and fire into the back of the net to change this contest completely . Michael O’ Connor in the opposite corner  to Nolan slotted over two points in quick succession the first from play before adding a free. Travers in the home side’s goal saved expertly at point blank range to keep his side in the contest . McLoughlin added one final free before the half time whistle to widen the gap between the sides

The second half of this game was a much higher scoring affair . The home side opened the scoring again this time through Cathal Kelleher before Curtis Geraghty responded in kind to keep that gap on the score board. The home side started to empty the bench . Conn Kinsella made an immediate impact scoring two minors in between an effort from Nolan .

Against the wind in  the second half the away side were starting to run the ball through the defence one of these runs ended up in the hands of full forward Dean Siney who rattled the back of the net . O’ Connor who was forever a danger inside managed to add a second major moments later . It was nearly three goals in a row only for the efforts of Travers who expertly kept out another goal bound effort . The resulting forty-five was converted by goalkeeper Michael O’ Toole . The home side were scoring in spurts this time sub Sean Hurley managed to split the posts with two fine  long range efforts before another sub Cian Cooney fired over from a tight angle . With the game petering out Nolan fired an effort from a narrow angle into the top of the Geraldines net. Cooney scored a carbon copy of his first effort to narrow the gap slightly . Geraghty added another minor to his tally  along side Mcloughlin who opened his scoring from play . Stephen Hurley aided by the breeze drilled a long  range free over as the game neared the final whittle . The final goal of the game was from the boot of Geraghty who expertly lobbed the onrushing Travers to kill the game completely . Kinsella’ slotted a close in free as a final consolation score . The visitors had the last laugh as that man Nolan dissected the uprights to finish of the scoring in this tie.
