On a miserable wet summer evening in Arklow, the junior B hurlers of Arklow managed to brave the conditions to get through to make their way into a Junior B semi final next Wednesday night.

The home side got off to a flying start hitting the opening two scores of the game, the first coming from evergreen full forward Danny Curran before Sean Pierce opened his account with a long range point.  Éire Óg responded in kind with a long range point of their own from full forward Aaron Toner.  Curran and Jason Redmond traded scored in the middle of the half Curran firing in a goal from inside the 21 before Redmond dissected the posts with a score from play. Curran hit the net again before Redmond fired over a dead ball. With the game running away from the away side they made their way back into it with a quick 1-2 the points  coming from play and a free from centre forward Pat Murphy before got a goal after firing the ball towards the posts from out near the sideline which eventually  ended up in the net. Curran fired over the last point of the half for the Rocks.

The second half was much more one sided. With the Rocks playing with a strong breeze they certainly made the most of this with scores coming at their ease. Midfielder Tom Sommers used the breeze to his advantage to hit over an audacious free out near the sideline.  Both Rocks wing forwards managed to open their accounts. Both scores were similar both coming from the wing  the first from Ryan Barden before Chris Kavanagh hit a carbon copy from the opposite side. Redmond then finished the game completely as a contest with two goals in quick succession. Firing the ball low into the net on both occasions. The aforementioned Pierce and Barden added to the score sheet, before Redmond hit two final dead balls over to finish off the scoring for the home side. Éire Óg hit one final consolation score from a free through Murphy again.
