Last Friday the 3rd round of group 1 in the Wicklow Senior football championship was played in Arklow

A very experienced Coolkenno were playing a younger Laragh side. Coolkenno hit the opening score of the game with a free from full forward Don Jackman. Laragh responded in response with a fine score from full forward Mark Miley who fired over a great score on the turn.  Coolkenno then started to pull away on the score board hitting 1-3 without reply. The goal coming from the evergreen Jackman who managed to get his fist onto a long ball that was fired in around the danger area. Coolkenno inside forward line now started to get their hands on the ball more frequently with both corner forwards  hitting points from play the first coming from Conor Walker before Pauric Coleman got his name on the score sheet, Coleman then added a 45 moments later . Laragh responded with a solitary point from play through wing forward David Miley. Then a huge turning point came with  an off the ball incident leading too Laragh midfielder Damien Hanlon getting a 2nd yellow card which resulted in him been sent to the line.  With having the man advantage Coolkenno started to open up their lead very significantly hitting 7 points without any response heading towards the break. Wing forward Eamonn Rossiter scoring from play, midfielder Jim Cushe then broke up the field and fired over a great score from an acute angle.  Wing back Patrick Dalton made his way up the field and slotted the ball over the bar . Jackman fired over a point from play before adding another free. Conor Walker and midfielder Conor Doyle put over points from play just before the half time whistle.

With the game been virtually over as a contest that man Jackman got another goal after some good work from his teammates who managed to lay the ball on a plate to him in front of the goal.   Coolkenno kept the score board ticking over in the 2nd half with Rossiter firing over a point before sub Keith Farrell fired over the black spot. The aforementioned Cushe and Coleman hit Coolkenno last two points of the game. Laragh then decided to try  put some respectability on the score board which they did mainly though the boot of centre forward John Nolan who dissected  the posts 5 times in a row with three of these coming from frees the other one coming from play  The final score of the game coming through Laragh wing back Aaron Lynham who came up the field to split the posts .
