Bonniconlon 0-11
Eastern Gaels 1-11
Parke GAA Club
Eoin Horkan
An early goal from Jack Madden proved crucial as the Gaels got revenge on Bonniconlon after last year's semi final.
The east Mayo side flew out of the blocks going three points up within five minutes with all of the scores coming from Senan Guilfoyle two from play and another from a dead ball. This cherry on top in this great early start came as a Guilfoyle free was punched into the net by Jack Madden. This great start kicked the opposition ito gear as they fired over four points on the trot. The first coming from Wesley Loftus before Ciaran Gaughan added three more frees just before the midway mark of the half.
The second quarter of this game turned into the Guilfoyle show assisted by Madden again. The first orange flag of the semi final came from the aforementioned before he nearly grabbed a second from the halfway line but Bonni goalie got a touch to the boomer of a free. The gap was narrowed by Gaughan again before Madden ensured his side would go into the break leading by double scores.
Bonniconlon looked like they were in trouble but a couple of second half subs brought them back into the tie. An early free from the boot of Sean Neary was canceled out by Senan down the far end. The next fifteen minutes began to the north Mayo men. Another dead ball from Ciaran before substitutes Ronan Neary and James Harrington had their side well back in this game. A couple of missed frees could have given their side the lead but the post got in the way. After such a long period without a score the Brickens based side were in trouble before marauding wing back Charlie Johnstone raised a white flag. With the game coming down the stretch the gap was down to one as the clock was hitting sixty as James Harrington raised his side's first orange flag of the game. Not to be outdone Guilfoyle did the same from a free from range to ensure his side would be heading to McHale park in two weeks time.
