 Ballycroy 0-9

 Ardagh 0-18

 Ballycroy

 Eoin Horkan

Ardagh led by sharpshooter Lee Traynor  produced some fine football on the foot of Nephin to ensure top spot in there group

Within  five minutes of the throw in, the away side raced into a two-point lead with strikes from a dead ball from Kevin Moran before Ruairí O’Boyle added a second in the following play. The tie was level on eight minutes as Michael McCormack and Rory Conway had raised white flags. Just before the ten-minute mark Lee Traynor opened his account for the day with a cultured effort after rounding his marker. The home side then took the lead as Michale Conway found his range from distance judging the swirling breeze expertly to slot over a long range free.

The last four minors of the half came from the visitors with Moran and Traynor adding to their tallies,  before the final members of the half back line Brendan Carr and Thomas Varkonda ensured their side would go in at the break leading by a goal.

It was Ballycroy who struck first when the game resumed as Conway slotted over a free, this was quickly cancelled out by Traynor and Carr. The home side was finding it difficult to trouble the scoreboard from play but a second long range free from M Conway had the gap narrowed again by two. The north Mayo side was causing danger every time the ball went inside , it was Traynor alongside Varakonda who raised white flags midway through the half, before another dead ball this time from R Conway. With twelve minutes left on the clock the aforementioned Traynor struck a glorious effort between the posts for another for his side's first orange flag of the day. His teammates Fionn Barrett and Paddy Walsh added to their sides tall. A final effort from Conway close in finished the scoring for his side while captain Stephen Rochford along with Traynor and Varkonda added three more white flags before the ref blew the full-time whistle.

In the dying embers of the game Ballycroy’s Aiden Grealis was also given a straight red for an off the ball incident which could affect his side's chances in the do or die clash against Ballycastle in the next round especially with a number of other players out injured at the moment.
