U13 Girls Bowl
MGL South 3
Mayo 0
Evergreen Park Kilkenny

It wasn’t to be for the Mayo
u13 girls Saturday evening as they fought as hard as possible but couldn’t get
the better of MGL from Dublin.
The Dublin side took control
of this tie from the opening whistle with a strong middle third creating
chances for the dangerous striker Matilda Stelmaszek whose
first chance of the game cam five minutes in which was well saved by Ava
Mitchell in the Mayo net. It was against the run of play when Emily Connolly
drove forward for the girls in red but her goal bound effort drifted wide. This
reprieve didn’t stop the Dublin side as Zara Behan’s effort was well blocked by
Sive Flanagan .
The rest of the half turned
into a battle between Mitchell and Stelmaszek. It was Mitchell who was winning
this battle two excellent saved , eventually Stelmaszek broke the deadlock with
a controlled lob as Mitchell advanced of her goal. Within two minutes Stelmaszek
had doubled her sides lead with a well-controlled effort from the edge of the
box. With minutes to go in the half Stelmaszek nearly completed her hat-trick
but her effort cannoned back of the upright leaving two between the sides at
the break.
